University of Colorado RN to BSN




 

Basic Information: The University of Colorado is located in Aurora, Colorado. This program is meant for Registered Nurses wanting to obtain their BSN.  This program requires that students have either a diploma or associate's degree in nursing. Students need to have their RN license in good standing as well as two letters of recommendation (one academic and one professional).

Must Dos: Students must finish prerequisite classes, apply to the University of Colorado, and apply to the nursing program.  If students have had their RN license for more than three years, they must have a minimum of 1000 hours of nursing experience in the last three years or have completed a CCNE approved RN refresher course.

Program Length: This program is designed to be completed in four semesters or 16 months. It is five courses consisting of 30 credits.  The breakdown of the courses can be found here

Nursing Prerequisites: It is recommended that all of the prerequisite courses be completed prior to starting the nursing program.

  • Physiology (or A&P II)
  • Microbiology
  • Statistics
  • Chemistry
  • English Composition II
  • Developmental Psychology
  • 2nd Developmental Psychology (if needed)
  • General Psychology
  • General Sociology
  • Cultural Anthropology or Multicultural Studies
  • 1st Literature, Humanities or Social Science
  • 2nd Literature, Humanities or Social Science
  • Additional Elective Credits Needed to Reach a Minimum of 60 Transferable Credits

Prior Classwork Information: A 3.0 cumulative GPA is preferred.  Must have achieved at least a "C" on all classwork in order to be considered for transfer to the University of Colorado.
