Second Degree Accelerated BSN




 

Basic Information: This branch of the University of California is located in Irvine, California. This program is for students who have already earned a bachelor's degree in another field and have finished the basic requirements for their BSN. In Fall 2015 there were 95 students who applied to the nursing program and 15 were admitted (16% admission rate). 

Must Dos: Students must apply to the University of California Irvine and to the College of Nursing.

Program Length: Two years in total.

Nursing Prerequisites: Courses include General Chemistry I/II/III, Organic Chemistry, Statistics, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology with Lab, Anatomy & Physiology with Lab, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, and Public Health. Prerequisites must be completed with a C or better if taken at the University of California Irvine, or a B or better if taken at a different university.  All prerequisite courses must be either completed or planned for at the time of application.  They must be completed by the start of the nursing program in the fall.

Prior Classwork Information:  Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.  In Fall 2015, the average admitting GPA was 3.78 with a GPA range of 3.40-3.96.
